The gala dinner is a hugely important event in the Wiltshire calendar, where local businesses and supporters come together to raise vital funds for future sports stars. The event comprises a dinner, catered by The Occasional Kitchen. A blind auction, and welcomes some wonderful UK athletes, to share their sporting stories.
At the annual Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner this year, former Bath and England rugby captain Phil de Glanville compered the event and guest speaker Steve Backley OBE shared his inspirational stories of world records and javelin gold medals.

Was the Wiltshire gala dinner a success?

The event was a resounding success and raised £63,573 in important funds for aspiring Olympians and Paralympians through the Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians Foundation. Everyone there had loads of fun and the blind auction had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Leader of Wiltshire Council, Cllr Richard Clewer, said: “Each year I am inspired by the dedication and commitment of the inspirational athletes at the Wiltshire Business and Sports Gala Dinner. They have some wonderful stories of sporting success to share, and thanks to our Funding Future Olympians and Paralympians Foundation, they will have many more successes to come.

“But this fantastic event is only made possible by the generous support we have received from the business community.”

The Occasional Kitchen were absolutely delighted to play a very small part in the evening, by providing all the delicious food.

Successful applicants receive funding to assist with training and attending competitions, as well as paying for equipment and transport costs to regional, national, and international events.
